Katie earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from The Ohio State University, in Child Development and Early Childhood Education. She has worked with young children and their families in many areas of the early childhood profession – teacher, director, coach and consultant. Katie has worked for University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension as a member of the Early Childhood team since 2014. Katie specializes in supporting the early childhood workforce to create engaging, child-led play and learning experiences for young children. You will often find Katie outdoors, as she leads a statewide program focused on helping create natural outdoor learning environments and increasing children’s access to the outdoors.

Katie and her husband, Kent (a native of Wood River, NE), moved to Ralston in 2014 from Ohio. They love the small-town community feel Ralston offers, while still being in the city. Their young children have many years ahead in Ralston Public Schools c/o 2035 and 2038!  Katie looks forward to being able to engage with all community members, and help everyone feel connected to their school district in some way.

Other areas of interest include: (slowly) restoring their 1922 home, participating in dog sports, riding horses, Ohio State and Husker football, camping and whatever adventures she can do with her family.
