Mr. Merv Riepe
Merv grew up on a grain and livestock farm and served in the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. He was a senior administrator at Lutheran Medical Center, Bergan Mercy Hospital and Children’s Hospital and Medical Center (Omaha) for 36 years. Merv consulted in health care for Ernst & Young and B.E. Smith.
He served as the Nebraska State Senator for District 12 between 2014-2018, and chaired the Health & Human Services Committee. Merv was elected to the Ralston Board of Education in 2020.
Educationally, he graduated from the UCLA School of Respiratory Therapy. He received a bachelor’s degree in finance from The University of Nebraska, Omaha, a master’s degree in health care policy and management, The University of Iowa and post-graduate studies at The University of Missouri, Kansas City.
Merv served as co-den leader, Ralston Boy Scouts. He is or was a board member of the Mid-America Council on Scouts, Omaha Symphony, Outlook Nebraska (chair), United Way of the Midlands, Nebraska Wesleyan University (president’s advisory board), Children’s’ Square USA (Council Bluffs), and the Combined Health Agencies Drive (CHAD).
Merv is married to Jody and the father of a Ralston graduate son, Merle. He is Papa of a seventh-grade girl and fifth-grade boy.
