Dr. Josh Wilken

As the Career Education Coordinator for Ralston Public Schools, Dr. Wilken is responsible for building customized learning plans with students related to their career field of interest, including the potential for work-related experiences and business internships. Dr. Wilken is passionate about supporting students with career exploration, awareness, and pathways in order to further develop their strengths and career goals. Dr. Wilken believes that through meaningful experiences, intentional coursework selection, and purposeful partnerships and teamwork, each student has the ability to graduate from Ralston High School as college and career ready. 

Dr. Wilken joined the Ralston Public Schools staff as the Career Opportunity Coordinator in 2018. Prior to his work as the Career Opportunity Coordinator, Dr. Wilken has served as the Elementary Principal for Karen Western Elementary from 2014-2018. During this time, Dr. Wilken served on multiple committees, including a Career Education Committee focused on developing career exploration and awareness at the elementary level. Prior to his work as Principal, Dr. Wilken taught in Bellevue, Nebraska for seven years as an English Learner Teacher. Dr. Wilken served in multiple buildings to support students with language growth. 

In addition to his responsibilities as Career Opportunity Coordinator, Dr. Wilken also serves Ralston Public Schools as the English Learner Coordinator. Dr. Wilken oversees the staffing and resource needs, curriculum, and evaluation of the English Learner programming in Ralston. Dr. Wilken believes strongly in providing meaningful educational opportunities for all students. He chose to serve in educational leadership to have the opportunity to impact a large number of students, and to support them along their academic journeys. Dr. Wilken believes that all students are capable of high levels of achievement, and through effective collaboration between the family and school, everyone is certain of success.

Mrs. Laura Carlow

Mrs. Carlow joined the Ralston High School family in 2009.  She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Wayne State College.  She transferred into the College and Career Center in 2016, where she works today as the College and Career Coordinator.  Mrs. Carlow is the liason between college representatives, businesses, and military personnel who reach out to students at the high school.  She arranges college campus visits as well as visits to area businesses.  Mrs. Carlow keeps students informed of available scholarships and leadership conferences that are offered, and is always excited to find ways to celebrate student success. 

In addition to her role in the Counseling Center, Mrs. Carlow is the building coordinator for the Teammates Mentoring Program.  She helps more than 50 students and mentors arrange meetings every week. 

Outside of her work with Ralston, Mrs. Carlow enjoys spending time with her family.  She and her husband have raised five boys who are still living in the Omaha area.  Although she does have three "grand-dogs", she is hopeful that grandchildren are coming in the near future!
