  • Girls Golf Going to State!

Posted by Mike Smith on 10/5/2020 11:00:00 PM

    Written by Coach Kosch:

Congrats to the Ralston-Mercy ladies golf team for their first state tournament berth in over a decade! The ladies fired a new team low this year Monday at Awari Dunes in Kearney by 2 shots on the most difficult course the girls have played this year in some very windy conditions. The ladies fired a 369 which was extremely close to finishing in the district runner up position which was earned by Kearney who fired a 360. This is Coach Kosch's first state tournament berth for a team since coaching the boys & girls golf teams over the past 13 years! Leading the way for the team was Lilee Surdell-Eichten firing a new individual tourney low this season with an 88 which was 6 shots lower than her previous season tourney low. Lilee's performance earned her a 7th place medal overall. Neleigh Rush finished with a 92 and was 2nd low on the team ending just 1 shot out of the individual medals. Clare Gonka fired 93 beating her season low as well by 4 shots. Grace Gonka rounded out the top 4 firing a 96. The team's alternate score was fired by Ava Wulf who came in with a 128.
Coach Kosch's comments were brief and as follows, "these girls just continue to amaze me in all they continue to achieve! I told them our chances of getting to state were small & we had to tear things up to catch Lincoln SE & that is exactly what happened, our girls went out and played with no fear and tamed a very challenging golf course today! Stay tuned to see more of what they can accomplish in Norfolk at state early this next week. I'm curious to see how they plan to amaze coaches, parents, grandparents, siblings & spectators up there!"

  • Softball Protocols at Duchesne

Posted by Mike Smith on 9/30/2020 9:00:00 AM

Here are the protocols for going to Dill Field for the softball game vs Duchesne:

For our outdoor venue at Dill Softball Complex, we will allow up to 4 immediate family members for each player and coach on the roster.  They are not transferable, meaning if one player only brings 2 it does not allow another to bring 6.  Myself or another Duchesne staff member will be at the gate taking count of family members per player.  Players should bring their own water.  Dill runs the concessions and I believe they plan to have them open.  Please also pass the following requests on to your coach.  We’re going to be overly strict in the hopes of keeping our players on the field all season.  Thanks!

    -Wear masks upon entry.

-Please have exact change (or check made out to Duchesne Academy) $5 adults, $3 Kids K-12.

-Only passes accepted are RCC Conference passes and Duchesne Booster passes.

-Please plan to bring your own lawn chairs

-Sit with your immediate families spaced out at least 6 feet from other families.  At that point, you can take your mask off.

-Players should wear masks when not on the field.  The bleachers nearest the dugouts will be made available for players to sit spaced out when their team is batting.

-Players should only be in the dugout for their game.  We have a handful of girls that suit up for both JV/V, but if a player only plays on one level, they should only be in the dugout for that game.

-Coaches should wear masks whenever in close proximity to their players.
