Mrs. Diane L. Meyer, M.S., CCC-SLP

Diane Meyer is the director of the Suburban Schools' Program for Students Who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.  She received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Nebraska-Omaha in 1986.  Diane focused on serving with students with hearing loss taking additional coursework in sign language and audiology to better prepare herself.

After working as a speech-language pathologist for 11 years primarily serving students who are deaf and hard of hearing, Diane went back to college and received her endorsement in deaf education.  She also then pursued a Masters degree in Elementary Administration and Supervision and an endorsement in Secondary Administration and Supervision.  

In 2005, Diane accepted the position as the director of the Suburban Schools' Program which provided services to students in kindergarten through graduation in a center-based service model.  She believes that all students can achieve their dreams with the right educational programming.  This move allowed her to fulfill her personal dream of supporting more students who are deaf and hard of hearing reach their personal goals by developing appropriate educational programming that provides students the ability to develop their character and the skills necessary to obtain their life long goals.  Since 2005 the program has grown from a center-based program to one that offers itinerant deaf education service in resident districts as well as birth-5 years services for over 20 districts.  

In addition, Diane is also the Administrative Coordinator for the Metro Regional Program (MRP) for Students Who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing.  The MRP supports school districts and students in Educational Service Units 2, 3, and 19.  In this capacity she helps school districts develop programs to enhance their service to their students with hearing loss.  The Metro Regional Program, in conjunction with the Nebraska Regional Program, provides professional development opportunities for educators working with students who are deaf/hard of hearing, sign language interpreters and parents.  The MRP also provides social-emotional opportunities for students to meet and socialize with other students who also are deaf or hard of hearing at a regional level and state level.
