RHS College and Career Day 2021
The busiest and most exciting day of the year took place on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Ralston High School! After not being scheduled last year, the school’s annual College and Career Day was back: bigger, and better than ever! It was an interactive morning for students of all grade levels, full of activities, interviews, job and career opportunities, guest speakers, planning, and preparing for the future. Below is a breakdown of what each grade level experienced at Ralston High School's "Launch Your Future - College and Career Day!
9th Grade Students - Freshmen got an in-depth look into 15 different career pathways as they cycled through interactive industry professional presentations. Local representatives from a variety of businesses including CHI Health, Ralston Police and Fire Departments, Henry Doorly Zoo, Omaha Cake Design, Carpenter’s Union, and Metro Community College Automotive Department informed students about their job, the careers associated within each field, and conduct an interactive activity with the students.
10th Grade Students - To be fully prepared and ready to take the ACT college admission exam, sophomores took the Pre-ACT test.
11th Grade Students - Juniors visited the college and career fair. Over 70 local businesses and 30 college, university, and technical school representatives were in the gym and students cycled through each booth or table and visited with representatives to learn more about their post-secondary opportunities or job/career pathways. Later in the morning, these students took either the PSAT, NCRC, or ASVAB test.
12th Grade Students - Senior students met at 8:00 am at the RHS stadium for an all-class picture. Then they attended the college and career fair. For the remainder of the morning, students rotated between an Apply2College/FAFSA Workshop in the school’s media center and a "Ready, Set, Future" presentation by guest speaker, DeMoine Adams, in the auditorium. During the Apply2College/FAFSA Workshop, students filled out college applications online, completed FAFSA applications, and posed for photos with their college of choice.
It was a really exciting day for all RHS students but especially for the Ram seniors.
